air hose help

my air hose fittings leak when hooked up to some of the air lines in my shop...im the kind of person who cannot stand hearing a leaking air tool all day. so i was wondering where you guys would recomend getting connectors, also i was thinking of putting whip/leader lines on my air tools...where would you guys recomend getting a good hose for this. im guessing a swivle would be great for some areas.

I don't have whips on any of my air tools, but if/ when I do put some on, I am going to sacrifice a 3/8" Flexzilla hose. I would make them different lengths depending on the tool.

As far as fittings, I have no idea what you should get.

i figured snap-on would have whip hoses but i cant find any on the site...ive got cheap fittings now, just not sure where to start with good quality ones

Convert everything over to Milton Type V fittings. I've had good luck with their longevity, plus the extra air flow rocks.

I picked up a Forney whip hose and swivel for my impact at ACE hardware, they work great, no leaks with tape.

Stay away from Harbor Freight male and female connectors. The last bunch I bought would last about a week and then they would start leaking and disconnecting by themselves. I found some Miltons and the problem went away.

I used to use whips and I've moved away from them. They tend to be a PITA to use and store. I've started using, wait for it, Harbor Freight swivels. The ones they had a few months ago were dead ringers for the Blue Point swivels and I've had no problems from them. They were around $7, IIRC. they were out of them for a long time and then they came out with some that don't have the same fit or finish for $5. The new ones will start leaking in a day or two from the O-rings in the joint. I figured out that you can unscrew the pipe that connects the two halves, it doesn't have a slot or flats, and replace the O-rings with green A/C O-rings. The green O-rings are not a necessity, that's just what I had lying around at the time. I ground a couple of flats on the connector pipe to make it easier to remove while I was there. No problems after the mod and you can't beat $5 for something that everybody else imports, too.

I use Type D, from the local NAPA store. Don't get the cheap no-name not in a box ****. Get the ones in a skin pack. The brass cost more, but gives better service. I normally run 200 PSI in mine, conncting and disconnecting several times a day when recharging extinguishers.

Just ordered a whole bunch of Milton V-Style from Northern Tool, great prices, I was sick of the slightly mismatched M-style stuff I have built up over the years from various sources so I am chucking it all and starting over. The Milton V-Style couplers don't leak and are backward compatible with M and A style plugs. High Flow, too, great for HVLP and impact wrenches. $6.99 for couplers, $3.99 for two plugs, can't beat it, made in USA,

just looked at what we use for the quick disconnects and we use Milton, so I'm figuring Milton would work best if matched
