I have a Harbor Freight 1/2" air hose reel. The method for connecting it to the delivery line is not intuitive. The 3' hose whip does not have end fittings that swivel. Screwing it into the reel's female thread (7/8" x 14?) facing outward would loosen the connection at the delivery line. I cannot seem to find a swivel adapter for this. Of course Habor Freight is no help whatsoever. And the instructions that came with the reel have nothing about connecting it to a delivery line.

Sounds like you need to use a union to accomplish your connection.

Assuming that the fitting to have is 1/2 NPT female, you need to add either swivel fitting or a union to connect to your whip hose, providing that it is 1/2 NPT male.

The one piece of the union will screw to you hose whip and the other will attach to the hose reel via a 1/2 npt ******. The nut part of the union will attach them together making a leak-free seal.

Best way is to get either a union as shown or a male to female swivel. Any hydraulic store would be able to hook you up, probably even napa. Bring the hose in and ask for a male/female npt swivel to fit and they will take care of you
Thread you are looking for is called 1/2 npt
Or you could screw the end going to your tank in, unmount hose reel from wall, turn hose reel as you thread it onto the opposite end and then mount back to the wall, less then ideal for future additions/work.
