Air Hose Reel Help

I have a central pneumatic hose reel. The pull ring attached to the pin that locks the reel broke off (see image), and I'm not sure how to pull it back out. I tried to pull it but I can't grab it. Do I need to dismantle the reel to be able to release the spring that holds it

Caution- The internal spring is wound tight, be very careful if you decide to separate the halves. I'm not sure if this model has the exact spring setup.

probably pull it apart is the easiest overall. I don't think that reel has a clock spring to rewind.. it should be safe to dig into it

The reel appears to be solid. I don't see away to separate it. there are 3 bolts that go through the center I take those out and see if that will let me get access to the brake pin.

yes if you take those screws out it will separate, you will probably have to undo the swivel in order to fully separate it but that shouldn't be necessary
