Air Hose

I recently purchased a 25' air hose from TSC.
My question,
Does anyone make an air hose in the 25' - 50' range that basically does not have a 'memory" ??
This last one I bought is almost like one of the self coiling hoses.
I've uncoiled it to use it and its a damned battle uncurling it & keeping it from kinking up.
I just need a 1/4" - 3/8" hose to plug into various areas around the shop when I need to use a regular hose, something that will lay on the floor without wanting to coil or tangle....
Any suggestions??

I have the homedepot version it is great even when its freezing outside, I wouldnt buy another type.

Blubird hoses are also fantastic in this way -- very flexible, no annoying "memory", and durable. I don't know if Menard's still stocks them.

Most hoses lose their memory and relax when they are used and age a bit.

It's as loose and limp as a hose could be. I used to have another one that looked like the same type (can't remember brand) and it died from a little acetone exposure, so keep away from solvents. They both have a transparncy to them with a mesh type scrim for reinforcement.

Any decent RUBBER hose won't have that issue to any great extent. Stay away from the cheapo PVC.

Rubber hose has no memory, but they seem to get damaged WAY easier than the vinyl hoses.

I keep both on hand. My 50’ rubber hose is now 4 much smaller hoses after all the damage. I have never lost a vinyl hose due to incidental damage.

Pull it all the way out on a nice hot sunny day. Let it sit in the sun for a few hours. It'll heat it up and relax the material. Pull it into the shade and let it cool off before rolling it up. This helped reduce mine a lot. I also do large coils. I hang my air hose on a plastic garden hose holder mounted on the wall in my garage.

I have a blue Goodyear hose that I have had about 15 years. It is still going strong. I bought a flexzilla that is great, but I have only had it a few years. Don't get a Harbor Freight hose. I had one that came with a reel and would have to cut a foot off about once a year as the skin oils would break down the hose.

Ayuh,..... Flexzilla has the least memory, but a hose is a hose, 'n ya gotta respect it's spline,.....
If twists aren't removed, you'll never be Happy, with any hose,.....

For what its worth!
I had a 3/8" rubber Goodyear on my Service Compressor that is about 30 years old!
It got damaged once 2/3's of the way out. When I spliced it back together I didn't take into account its natural "lay", then when I coiled it back it would change direction and figure 8 at that spot.

About 8 years ago I was convinced by another fellow to buy a 3/8" Goodyear Vinyl Composite hose for the Shop compressor. It never coils back decent and in the winter gets stiff.
About 6 years ago I replaced the Shop 1/2" hose, I bought a 100 foot Goodyear hose from Fastenal. I cut it in half and finally replaced the old work hose on my Service Compressor along with replacing the Shop large bore hose.
My 3/4" Impacts LOVE them!

Unbeknown to most people, there is a difference between rubber and plastic/PVC hose. The same is true with garden hose.

Like mentioned, get a decent rubber hose or Flexzilla. Spend the money so you don't have to fight the hose.

Flexzilla picked two fifty footers off amazon for forty bucks. Stays pliable in the winter doesn’t hold any loops when I spooled out of the reel.

I just bought a 50' 3/8 flexzilla to replace the **** house that came with my bostitch pancake compressor/finish nailer combo kit.

Imho that length and diameter really gets too bulky to make a good mobile setup, but the hose is very nice. What I don't get is the nice black threaded ends they put on which end up getting brass fittings on them.

I don't get it either. Aluminum and brass are not considered compatible in terms of galvanic corrosion.

I would think so. There's no way to eliminate it scratching off when the fittings are tightened.

Yea, I was kind of scratching my head on this one. No NORMAL rubber air hose is going to have memory.

I have been happy with my TEKTON hybrid hose. It doesn’t stay as stiff in the cold as my old rubber hose, less “memory”, and made in the USA.

Parker push-loc or Goodyear push-loc hose are the best...
