Air hoses..What would you buy?

Hey fellow GJ's I have to replace one of the hoses in my shop. I've always used rubber 3/8x50. Usually goodyear. What would you get. I don't do cheap.

A couple years ago my local parts house gave me a deal on a Flexzilla hose to try and give a local review. I'm in love!! My only complaint is the ends have a heavy piece of plastic tubing that gets in the way. I worked mine down out of the way. I'm sure it's to help keep from damaging the fittings but I didn't like it, it makes the end too stiff for me. Before that I had had good luck with Goodyear and Dayco hoses.

I've been wanting to hear if anyone has tried the new Goodyear F5 air hose. I haven't had the chance to see one yet. I can order it through Home Depot but would like to know how it compares to the Flexilla. I just bought a Goodyear Pliovic hose but I am cutting it to specific sizes for a tire changer and lift table the I just bought and did not want excess hose everywhere. It seems like a well made hose and flexible and for $15 for a 50 foot 3/8 hose seemed like a bargain to me. But it's not going to be dragged all over the place so I don't know how tough it will be.

Flexzilla also makes whips for your tools, that would eliminate that "stiffness" problem you have...

I just bought a 100' Goodyear Black hose made in the USA for 53.00 on ebay.

I will take it to my hydraulic guy and have good hydraulic ends put on it. The way they are crimped they don't wear the hose at the end like the stock crimps do.

I have a 50ft 1/2" FlexZilla hose in the shop and I really like it.

Very flexible, doesn't kink, seems to be built pretty well.

I think it might have been $25-$35 at Tractor Supply, but I don't exactly remember.

Flexzilla is downright awesome. We used to replace hoses all the time because someone in the shop would park a heavy truck on one, splitting it, or weld with one underneath them and some slag would burn a hole in our old rubber hose. We would constantly be replacing or fixing our air hoses.
A couple of years ago, I decided to switch my personal hose to Flexzilla. Within a couple of weeks everyone was stealing it and using it. I've never had a problem. Not a single split or repair, and you can bet that the guys in the shop haven't changed their bad habits of parking on it or welding over it.
If the Flexzilla wasn't already awesome enough, they then came out with a hose in the last year that actually has a built in repair mechanism. If you do manage to put a hole in your hose, you can actually turn down a spring loaded type of cover that covers the hole. I believe it's got one on each end, giving you 2 repairs before you actually have to take it somewhere to have a third hole fixed. Pretty awesome.
They became such a hit in the shop that I replaced every single hose we have here with Flexzilla. Even all of our water hoses here, and all of mine at home are now Flexzilla. I even bought their pressure washer hose this winter (I haven't had a chance to use that one yet). I have nothing but good things to say.
It also doesn't hurt that I get to try their stuff out before it even hits the market since I know someone pretty high up at the company. There's all kinds of stuff in development that hasn't hit the shelves that is pretty awesome. Some of it never even makes it to the shelf.
A little trivia that no one cares about, but they actually made Flexzilla in a whole bunch of different colors. But, to make themselves obvious to consumers and not to let others build a similar knock-off hose, they decided against releasing any of the other colors and only use the neon green so that everyone knows it's a flexzilla. They actually had a whole array of colors that were going to be released, all of which had different names. For example the coolest one I saw was called the "Hot Dog" hose. It is literally the exact same color and look as a hot dog. I know this is way off topic, but just fun facts.
I should probably make a thread on here of upcoming stuff from the company, or take pics of stuff that has never and will never be released. It's some pretty cool stuff. I'll have to ask the guy if that's allowed per company rules or not. It'd make for some pretty interesting viewing.
Also, if anyone is buying any of those blue aluminum high flow ends/couplers/etc that are made by Legacy, I have about 5 of every coupler and about 40 of the high flow male, female, etc end for your air tools that I bought when re-tooling our shop that I'd sell a whole lot cheaper than the crazy prices Summit is asking for them...

Also, pretty much everywhere I've seen Flexzilla air hose, it's 35 bucks for 50ft of 3/8. I think the ones with the built in hole repair are a bit more...

Also, I just realized that I have a brand new Levelwind reel from Flexzilla still brand new in the box if someone wants it. I also have one of those neon green all metal construction hose reels and hose that Grainger's sells for around 700 bucks brand new in the box, too. If I could find a link to it I'd post it. I'll get the model numbers tonight and probably post them to the classifieds.

They also came out with a pressure washer hose, I am curious to see if anyone has used this yet. I am so sick of the hard plastic pressure washer hose.

It's a shame about the colors. The only complaint I've every heard about the Flexzilla is that the green gets dirty fast and looks like ****. I have also heard folks talk about the UV getting to Flexzillas that get a lot of sun exposure.

Oh well maybe some day flexzilla will be in colors

I have no problems with them getting dirty, but all of my garden hose that is bright green turns a dull yellow within a week or so of being outside. I don't care about the color, just the function, though.

And, if you really want to talk about dirty, one of their color ideas was white.

I should see if the guy will sell me some of the colors so I can post them on here.

I wouldn't mind the Flexzilla garden hose (all my water hoses are kinked, worthless POS) but that bright green would be a big neon "STEAL ME" sign if I left it sitting out front on the spigot.

I use Goodyear hose and have had good results. My dad also used Goodyear hose for many years in the machine shop where he worked and never had issues with it.

Never used one we sell them at work and about 40% of them get returned but we have also had a handful of repeat customers on them. So I guess its one of those love or hate things. I personally use DeVilbliss good hose at about 75 cents a foot and about $7.50 for the ends

I got the 3/8" X 50' flexzilla and put it on my reel, the only thing I see with it is it swells up larger than any rubber hose I have ever had, kinda bulky. But in it's defence it is at 175psi. Got it at TSC for around $35.00.

+1 on Flexilla. I have a 12-footer I use as a whip hose (last hose before the tool). It gives me a lot of movement and is very light. Once it is pressurized, it won't kink. I've heard they stay flexible in the cold, but I'll never find out, in Napa Valley.

As I replace air hoses, Flexilla is definitely what I am going to buy.

Another vote for Flexzilla. I have two 50 footers, and a couple of their whip hoses and have been very satisfied with them. As previously mentioned, the bright green will show some dirt.

I hate Flexzilla... Parker Push-lock for me. Soooo much nicer (Dark blue instead of rancid green, doesn't pickup grease and wipes off with a rag, etc...)

My favorite to date is the "natural rubber" Good Year hose that China Freight used to sell.

It's somewhat fragile compared to the Red Goodyear or the Parker Pushlock, but doesn't get stiff in the cold, at all.

Very flexible when warm too.

i go to my local hose and hydraulic supply and have them made i get to choose the length i wand hose is good quality and ends are high quality was about 1.00 a foot last time i bought one but usually discount it for me

Flexilla is definitely the best you can easily find I think others are out there. A second best is Goodyear I've always had good luck with them.

I just know I fought with my two 50 ft. Goodyear air hoses for years in my garage. Finally broke over and got a Goodyear 3/8" x 50' on a ceiling suspended reel. Nothing but smiles now.
