I think he took that the wrong way, woodstockva meant IR's top of the line offerings, not IR is top of the line. And yes I agree with you on IR being the benchmark for other impacts.

probably but he's a noob its just a little  no harm done
but people really have to think and read before they speak :scared:

This is my cordless impact (Milwaukee M18 2763) after 3 months of service in a professional setting (independent garage/workshop):

Oil, brake fluid, coolant, tire shines, undercoats, WD40, grease, wax and anything else you touch on the car gets transferred to the rubber grip and they don't come off unless you blast it with brake clean.

I've never seen this happening to my pneumatic tools, the grips will, and do eventually swells and falls off but they're always replaceable, you will need a brand new housing on cordless to fix the grip.

The reason I put the DBA test in the videos is to show how accurate manufacturer claims are (or arent) with their listed specs. ALL manufacturers make those specs free-spinning only......you can have a magic impact with zero dba & once you start hammering on a fastener it is going to go well over 100db.

Should of stated that then. As it stands it gives the impression that air is louder. Put me I the camp of cordless is deafening when impacting. Significantly worse than pneumatics. Also why not get a QTIMAX? Marlin stated the torque loss was so little as to practically not matter. I believe the only reason they don't muffle them all is because guys associate noise with power.

A wrinkled overmold grip is poor build quality, eh? Ok.

Its a bit more than wrinkled. At over $400 for the kit that is extremely shoddy. Obviously it wasn't designed for automotive fluids in mind. Either that or they just didn't want to spend a few extra dollars on build quality.

For those who think cordless will allow you to eliminate buying an expensive compressor -not going to happen- period. A powerful air compressor is a must have even if there never were air tools invented. Blowing out oil passages in auto transmissions, engine cases and blowing clean differential casings, roller and ball bearings etc etc etc during rebuilding is as important a reason for a compressor as air tools are. Not to mention spay painting and sand blasting.

I couldn't live without an air compressor and buying cheap durable air tools for one I would already own is a no brainer. I do like cordless tools but it's not one or the other.
