Air Line Relief Valve

I'm reconfiguring the air lines in the garage. As the compressor cuts off at 155 PSI and doesn't have any type of relief valve. (Yes - the lines are black pipe, so let's not go there!!)

Anyone have a recomendation of who's relief valve I should install? - Thanks!!

What brands, how old? Photo of the pressure switch and line from the last stage and pump would be helpful. Sounds a bit unusual.

Actually sounds like you have pretty good stuff already if you have compressor capable of 155 psi and black pipe air line system.

I've never heard of store bought compressor not having a PRV (pressure relief valve). You say that . . "compressor cuts out at 155 psi" . . so sounds like regulator is set to shut down compressor at 155 which is fine, unless regulator is not working at all and compressor just keeps running and running until it reaches it's max capabilities. Provide more info on what it's doing.

I'd recommend posting some pics of what you've got as that will help get proper feedback. A redundant PRV can be installed in the air line system if worried that compressor PRV is not working.

I'd recommend regulator for compressor set at say 140 psi and that is pressure throughout the air line system. Then you would have regulators at drops to lower pressure for specfic tools.

Hard seat p.r.v. will leak very small amount of air, continuously. If you keep air in the tank all the time, it will slowly lose pressure over time. The solution to that is a soft seat. Make sure it's rated for proper c.f.m. amount. As well as pressure.
