I have been researching here for some time now and decided to join TGJ, studying, purchasing and acquiring any and all bits and pieces to make this compressor build complete before she arrives (already have a name for her)............
I do have their water trap here already, is anyone using or familiar with their JT Compressed Air Dryer?https://www.jtdryers.com/jt-order-now.html
now on that note i do have a Wilkerson Separator was planning to install this also if possible and depends on placement if the Air Options JT CAD
seems to be trouble free for its purpose, perhaps the Wilkerson separator is not needed but if any water resumes in line after my 50 ft. run of Type-L then perhaps it will be useful ( what PSI could it consume if much at all)?
people mention about overkill around here a lot, well the Ol' saying is to have it and not need it, then to need it and it got left behind.

Well everything here on out will be posted here since it's all about the option of air.
Just ordered the SB VT 735-80FP (Full Package) from Smitty's Equipment sales out of Illinoishttps://smittysequipmentsales.com/, I called and Smitty himself answers the phone, it was Kismet:)
a great guy i got to talkn' with, he said he hadn't talk to a customer as long as me in ages he was totally knowledgeable, learned more in the 40 minutes we talked than the 40+ hours findn' info to read. A deal i can't reveal absolutely unreal.
He said Saylor- Beal has nothing on the floor so the back order can be 6-10 weeks Green Valley told me 10-18 weeks no worries no hurries, have plenty of time to do the garage floor again and post pics of the lil' things i learned here and abroad to bring fresh compressed air to life. It's an adventure i'll cherish for all time.
So what is the Full Package of a SB................
  • Model VT-735-80FP “THE WHOLE SHEBANG” Includes aftercooler, starter, low oil control, auto tank drain, anti-vibration isolators, new quiet air intake filter

Saylor Beall Base Model VT-735-80

  • Heavy-Duty Long Lasting Cast Iron Pump

  • 220V Single or Three phase 5 HP Motor

  • Horizontal 80 gallon tank

  • 705 Pump, 17.3 CFM

  • On/Off Pressure Switch and Magnetic Starter

I'm following along here. Out of curiosity, what is your application? Are you painting? Is this a personal shop you're going all-out on or an everyday business?

Admittedly, reading about that JT air dryer taught me quite a bit. It also costs over twice as much as my whole 60 gal unit, but it's in a different class. Also, I've been holding off on installing my compressor because I've been trying to decide how I was to run piping to cool the air. You're mention of an "aftercooler" led me to this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XONT3E/?tag=atomicindus08-20
which makes a lot more sense than sweating my own copper lines.

I believe the 'VT' stands for 'Vertical Tank' although your description states "Horizontal Tank". Hope you didn't order the wrong one! S-B builds great pumps, you'll be very happy with it.

Where bouts are you located in Ca?

Vertical, foot print and all, i'd much rather have a HZ. but something appealing about a vertical tank.
Location since i was a babe, Concord, aw! what a Town it use to be, if somehow i could grab father time and twist his arm to get back there, reminded me of the Twilight Zone episode Willoughby, dang time fly's.
where might you hail from?

Ok i'll say this, reading wayyyyy too much, reading here and abroad and the hobbyist in me just likes to emulate, create, build and dream.
Application for fun, then for my work truck and my 65' HM AC Cobra, restoring antiques and if you can tell just diggn' blowing air:D
It's a funny thing about the internet and my curiosity (generally ends up costing me more coins then what's in the mug up in the cabinet) is that there's so much more to learn and share it's a lot of fun, when i came across here at The GJ it's so neat that every one brings something to the table, just like on the few RC Forums I go on. i wish i would have found this place when i was building Bad Agness (the Hurricane Motorsports AC Cobra build) for i would had never purchased a Husky 27 gallon compressor, i had no flippn' idea.
so on that note you could say the next picture is where i breath at Tamiya Club and behind that picture (hidden from view only to be seen at Tamiya Club) are several dozen builds that encompassed me through out the years.
Now back to the JT Dryer, well probably one the most important issues when i was studying about compressed air was the Bad Water issues, so read more talked to some peeps and found that there are lots of ways to drown out the water problem. I did start a Manifold with 48 feet of Type L copper pipe, four 3/4" x 1/2" x 3/4" tees, 1/4" ball valves, 3/4" street and regular 90's, purchased some Super Strut and Cushioned Clamps, seems the Air Filter industry is not short on brands and availability on these, Parker kept popping up here quite frequently, Wilkerson got a screaming deal on there water separator (ZORO which is part of Grainger i found out), some fittings i had here already, i'm robbing the circuit breaker from my Tig welder, and organizing the garage again, oh that's ever on going isn't it? of course i should of knowno_O and
Awaiting on Harpoon Hanna, the name (Saylor- Beall) reminded me of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for some reason and Kirk Douglas's song popped right in my head, Wale of a Tale
.
Well on that note i'm glad you asked............. I dig it all!

Purchased two, these are going to be used for the Air Filter's as support bracket holders. Form function and strength, got the idea looking at all the bland brackets made for air filters sold separately for more money than these Wake's, was thinking what in the world would work, be stronger and look Bad A$$!!!
Bam! it hit me, bicycle head sets..................Remarkable*

Weighing in at 35 Lbs.

This tape is a staple diet especially for gas lines

Notice the gray color the tape on the center fitting, the two on the outer sides when you give it a twist it turns black,
always got a kick out of that...

Rinsing out the flux... or Golden Showers by I.P. Freely....................:wtf:

Niagara Falls! inch by inch, step by step...

next is cutting Super Strut and a coat of paint, assemble regulator, filters, dryer and trap not necessarily in that order:dunno:

A BIG THANKYOU!!! to Mr. Ryan Cochran, for sending this out to me...
I'm Honored to have found this place and to have learned a great deal of mechanical wizardry here.
I will use 3M two way tape to fashion on my compressor (i'll trim some brass screws down and epoxy them into place as though i screwed the plague into the tank)

2" PVC cap, & pipe...
Cut about a 1/2" at edge of cap for the mounting ring for the Hour Meter with a rubber insole cut to a circular fit for a dampening ring/seal, cinched down with M2.5mm SS screws with a dab of RTV.
I'll mount it to some type of anti-vibration mount(haven't decided on, either a two point or single point mount) pipe fitting clamp or "L" bracket with a hose clamp and neoprene rubber pad, or a larger circumference ring (like a Halo)
Painted it Matte Shaker Hood Black, could change though. figured either a SS tubing sheath from my AN box of goodies for the wire loom or just aluminum tubing, things I dream about...
post finished pics later....................

Gramp's worked for Associated Tide Water and Retired under Phillips 66, left me quite a bit tools and fittings even before he went to the Great Refinery in the sky. This was one them...
This has been hung on one of the telephone poles that retain the backyard by the poolside for 35 years, it will now get cleaned up and reside on the wall next to Harpoon Hanna for visual fun and effects.

You’re going to love the compressor. It’s well worth the wait!
I've got time which is good, my 1/32 scale slot car track is coming out(the long story later), electric winched to the ceiling, and re-epoxy(paint) the garage floor, going through stuff i do not need nor use anymore and even changing out all plugs and switches to Leviton Grey HD. Being a building contractor, i'm the type in most cases, "You're going to remodel then do it new, unless something is worth salvaging then re-purpose, refinish, give it or throw away."

I saw this pic when i was shopping for Air manifold blocks and the picture was smaller than it appears as i copied and pasted it here, i thought "how cute" and then started reading that they're reserve tanks, then it got me thinking, i have a small compressed gas cylinder that is as almost robust & thick as the JT40.
I want to experiment on drilling (Tap &Die) weld a bung if needed on this container for air couplers , put an air test on it and see what happens, manual drain included.
