I picked up this BluePoint 3/8 drive air ratchet a little while ago. The ratchet functions properly but it has no torque. I can pull the trigger and hold the socket still. Running plenty of pressure and most of my other items checked out OK so it's not an air supply problem. Question for you guys who use these on a regular basis... what am I missing? Is there an adjustment I need to make or is it just worn out and needs to be rebuilt? Thanks

That problem seems to be caused on many air ratchets by a "wave washer" that is used in the head of the tool. Gets weak and the tool has no torque.

Ok, second question... does the socket spin when you dont hold it? Ive had mine lock up on me twice, where I can hold the trigger and tons of air goes through the tool but nothing spins. It just randomly locks up.
What happens with mine, is if you use it as an actual ratchet and you stop ratcheting in JUST the right spot, the shaft coming out of the motor that spins the head locksup. Its a bit hard to explain in writing, so if your ratchet is doing like mine is, Ill grab a picture to show you what I mean.

Sounds like both need a head rebuild kit,comes with the part the socket attatches to,the wave washers,couple little springs and ball bearings.
Common item,my tool guy stocks them on the truck for @ 30 bucks{Ingersoll Rand}

Nothing is really wrong with it.
I tested a few ratchets in my shop and they all behave the same as you, but they all work fine when tightening and losening nuts.
When your hand hold the socket, the air ratchet just acts as a spining off a nut, usually not very high torque and the ratchet will not kick back.
Air ratchet produces highest torque when the socket is "dead still". This is not the same "still" your hand can hold. It means zero movement, usually happens when the bolt is tightened and the ratchet itself will kick back.
Clamp your socket in a vise and you will see the difference.
