Air Regulator Question

So I just setup a blast cabinet, but it's got a max working PSI of 100.

My regulator on my compressor is set to shut off at 150 PSI.

So I bought this setup

And trying to adjust the regulator on the filter setup to 100 only causes the entire system to bleed down to 100 and then the compressor starts up again.

I'm guessing that it's not possible for me to set the regulator on the filter setup... either that or I'm completely doing it wrong?

And if I am please tell me what I need to do... and if I'm not... my next course of action was going to be to setup a spray gun regulator at the cabinet. I know how those work since I paint a bit.

Thanks

I can't see the link, my virus scanner blocks it, but by the sounds of your post you have the regulator plumbed in so that it is backwards and it is a relieving regulator. Can you post a picture of your setup?

I think you have it plumbed in reverse. Are the ports labeled? I'm assuming the rt side is the compressor source?

So I agree with @KenC, a regulator that is on a branch should regulate the pressure of the branch after the regulator, not the trunk pressure.

I would check the flow direction. There should be an arrow on the back of the regulator housing and it should be pointing away from the compressor.

I'll check the regulator for the arrow. I don't think it is but I don't know.

Looks like it's going the right way. The "In" label is where the air comes in from the left and the "Out" label is where it comes out.InOut.jpg

Spray bottle of soapy water to see where it's leaking......

I'd also put a ball valve right at the compressor tank to shut things down when you're not using it. I have 2 regulators on the 2 drops that both leak a little. Actually, I think it's the hose reel, but I've been lazy to find it. I just close the ball valve when I leave the shop and open it when I'm going to use the compressor.....

I think the regulator in the picture is just broken. OR it's mislabled. I just hooked up another regulator and it works fine.

Thanks for the help guys. At some point I might swap the second one (pictured) and see if it works. For now I'll just leave the damn thing.
