My compressor tank is covered in old grease and dirt and oil. A whole can of engine degreaser barely made a dent, and I just burnt out my grinder with a wire wheel. 60 grit sandpaper is no match for this stuff. What should I use to get rid of the grease? I am going to sand the paint on there before I prime and repaint it. Also, how should I clean the rust and stuff on the underside of where the compressor mounts? Evapo-rust?

When I got my Quincy I used some of that purple power stuff from AutoZone, undiluted on it, and it not only took the grease and dirt off, but most of the paint too!

I also like to use oven cleaner on non-aluminum parts. If it's warm enough outside (over 60F), it too cuts the grease and strips off the paint.

Yeah, I will have to try that. I am getting ready to order the parts to do a full rebuild on the pump, just because. Then it will outlast me I'm sure. I need to take it somewhere and have them blast the thing and hone the cylinders for me, I do not have a hone or any experience doing so.
