air to the new shop

my air compressor is in my attached garage right now and am building a new shop about50 ft away.my guesstion is for now until i halve power out in the new shop could i put an underground line to the new shop until i can afford to get my elecrical done.it is an 80 gal 2 stage,the house garage is around 3ft hire than the new shop.thanks for the input

My compressor, same size, is in a little shed built on to the house where my Electrical breaker and water heater is located. I have Rapidair 1/2" stuff run under the house to the garage attached to the house and then I have 100 foot of the 3/4" Maxline run underground when I built my new detached garage. Its nice not having the compressor near where you work so you dont have to hear it.

1/2" water pipe is what I've used. If plumbed correctly, any water condensation can be removed by air pressure as needed.

Another possibility is to use a sleeve and hose (depending on volume). You could use rigid PVC electrical conduit due to the long radius sweeps that are pre-formed or heat-formed regular Sch40 PVC. Put a small rope in the sleeve as you assemble it. Then pull in the air hose, probably need a water based lubricant, ideally your hose would be rated for air and water service so it won't decay in the unavoidable moisture that will collect in the sleeve over time.

The advantage over a direct bury pipeline is you don't have to worry about any corrosion issues with the ground down the road a few years.

Copper is theoretically neutral with the earth/soil but I'm not 100% sure about soldered pipe joints.
