air tool costs

So I finally got a pretty decent air compressor. Ultimately I'll get a blasting cabinet etc. I have a CP Impact gun I'm happy with and an IR ratchet that I wish was a bit more powerful but hey, it works.

So I have a friend who works at Boeing. I was yapping at him the other day and mentioned getting an air drill. He said Boeing uses Cleco. I never heard of Cleco air tools but if they keep Boeing's in the air, how bad can they be?

How bad they can be??? $936 for an air drill??? Does it come with a Boeing jet?

I'm not sure I'd stoop to Harbor Freight (sorry, I bought an air ratchet from HB and it never ever worked. All it did was leak and I had to take it back). However, if the Cleco does come with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner...I might pick one up. I played Microsoft Flight Simulator once and have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express a couple of times.

That is a classic case of ones own experience not being good advice for the next guy, a home brew does not need a 1K air drill. I agree, several knock offs work just fine. In fact I rarely use air drill, battery power is the way to fly. Where air is cheap and manpower expensive air makes some sense, home shop the only real need for it might be the occasional tight quarters, can't remember the last time I used mine, several years.

You would be amazed at the difference an expensive drill has over a cheap drill.
I just got a nitto 10mm drill and the thing drilled a 10mm hole through 1/2" thick steel like it was butter and it has a silencer on the back, I have never heard an air tool as quiet as this before.

Cleco air drills are available on EBay all the time, I have gotten them for less than $40.00 and they really are better than HF.

Never did say for any one to go out and buy a HF air drill and never said they were better. Just saying there is no way I would pay that mutch for a air drill. Now if someone gave me a cleco hell ya I would use the **** out of it. Cleco's are top of the line but about $900.00 out of my price range. lol
