Air tool swivels

I’ve got a 60 gallon 3hp single stage. With a 1/2 hose and I’m running 3/8 couplers and qd’s on my tools. With 3/8x1/4 plugs. When setting this up I was going for maximum flow. However there have been a few times I’ve really needed a swivel at the bottom of my tool.

I’ve looked into a lot of 360 swivels and they are all 1/4, which would work fine but my concern would be that the swivels would be much more restrictive than even just a typical 1/4 standard plug.

Anyone have any ideas they can throw my way?

Thanks:beer:

Hmmm I would never run 1/2 hose to my air tools ..bulky heavy... ( I only break out a 1/2 hose for my 3/4 and 1 inch air guns) I run type c 1/4 swivels with a 3/8 air line on my air tools no issues... 120 psi at compressor..

It’s not necessary. But it is what I’m used to. That is a very good point tho, kinda made me realize I am probably overthinking it. What are some of the better swivels out there that will hold a seal?

I haven't noticed any performance loss using 1/4" Dynabrade swivels. That said I've never needed maximum power from my 1/2" impact the times I've had to put a swivel on it.

I have needed the full power out of a 1/2in impact gun and more. Infact i have needed the full power from a 1in gun supplied by a 1in hose with a swivel. Swivel mostly because its a bit unwieldy.

The only 3/8 hose stuff i have a swivel on is an air hammer. Its a 1/4in male/female hydraulic swivel. There a bit more tough than the air stuff.

Have you looked for a swivel for say a powered grease gun?

I have needed full power. But i have a pretty extensive shop and work on about everything that can move. My bud had car shop, had all modest stuff, seemed to get it done with common air gun and 3/8 hose. I have a couple dozen air tools, probably more but don't have a swivel on any. I use quite a big connector too but I seem to manage to get it inner. Not even super fussy about hoses.
