1" air impact is a serious tool. We would use them to torque up 1600hp 7500psi mud pump liner retainer bolts ~2-1/2" socket, and I believe 1-5/8" stud ish. They had enough power over time to twist the studs outwards & make the liner retainer(probably about a 2" thick ring) concave and make it almost impossible to remove. Torque specs for the bolts were 1800ft/lbs

If you want more torque you feed it with a 1" air hose.

I think we're finally entering the era where the electric tools are going to surpass air in raw output, simply because a lot of shops don't have a proper air setup. Hose reels are a killer of air flow, yet are somehow ubiquitous despite being more expensive than a hook to loop the hose around. On long runs with my Thor impact, or 498 air hammers I can feel the shop air pressure dropping and the tool losing steam.

I'm glad nothing I own requires that level of power to work on :p

Personally I'd like to see the 1" D handle impact level of output in my 3/8 ratchets, but that's jut me.
