I've got to make some short air hoses to connect my blaster and hose reel to shop air. The Western Enterprises hose repair kit looks pretty good, but is a bit pricey. I'm wanting crimped ferrules or similar, but not just barbed hose fittings with worm clamps. Anyone got any recommendations? The PEX crimp clamps look like they might work OK.

I use hydraulic hose. Any industrial supplier can make them up for you. They can put whatever kind of ends on that you want.

Try Harbor Freight. They have 3ft lengths of hose that are perfect for connecting to hose reels. I bought one to connect my compressor to my filter. I can't remember what I paid, but it was under 10 bucks.

I've gone through 3 of those HF ones. They say they are rated for 800psi but I've had 3 burst right where the ferrule and hose come together. I plan on having a hose supplier make me up some.

I think I'll go that route - having the Hyd Hose supplier do em up.. Since TSC can make up Hyd. Hoses while you wait (supposedly)

Timely information for me too guys. Looking to set up a copper air hose set up for a new filter and configuration that I'm working on and was wondering about making some new lengths of hose. Got plenty of hose but was leery about the ends since even the garden hose repair kits that are supposedly commercial/industrial I use at work fail all too often.

I'll go to my friend who is in the LP gas business and have him crimp some things together. Obviously, they're pretty concerned about leaks so this should be a good point to start. Was hoping there was a good home remedy for time's sake but to avoid leaks and running to compressor even more often, this seems like a great solution.

 I had some hose ends put on by my local Napa auto parts, they used weatherhead fittings, and I've had no problems.

Years back we used to use these fitting sin the plant. The ones with the Hose Clamp End Connections were made for inplant make up and I don't remember them as being a failure point. I have some in my home shop that are ~20 years old and still working good. You can reuse them in new hose. I believe that these style of hose connections are avaiable in other brands.

I wanted some ends put on some hoses for some air reel connections and stuff. something like 6 bucks from my local NAPA store, they had a crimper and everything. I brought him the hose, he crimped on the ends, easy peasy.

I am also looking for these short air hoses... I have an older 100ft rubber good year air hose that i could cut up, but do those repair kits with the barb and hose clamp have a smaller ID than the real ones? They look mighty restrictive when i saw them in the big box stores...
