Hi guys,
I'm considering an Aircat 1150 impact wrench and I'd bet that someone here has one. I'm a weekend warrior mechanic and looking to update my less than stellar Craftsman air wrench. How is the Aircat 1150? I looked at a couple of the more powerful models but I'm concerned they might have too much torque for me and my 1/2 ton pickup.

Interested in your thoughts.

Thanks!

I have one and I love it. I have used it extensively on trucks, tractors, cars and everything in between. It has never failed me. I used it just this weekend on a small carry size 110v compressor and although it had to keep running, the impact still broke bolts loose without an issue. Plus it's quiet. I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

I would recommend the 1055. But that 1150 will be enough power for anything, you'll have to go up to one of those 1" drive big dawg torque wrenchs to get more power then one of those.

I Have two of the 1055. There is a guy on ebay that sells refurbed ones for like $60 and you get two of them.

They seemed to have the same power as my full size impact, but the compact design is the way to go.

I’ve had a slightly bigger brother for about four years and I like it. I don’t know whatever and have to do. Don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s quiet enough not to hurt your ears are used earplugs for muffs. I never could find a single fault with mine. I lost my love of Ingersoll rand when I bought one of their needle scaler’s and had to soak in penetrating oil for a weekend in order to get it to actually break loose and work.
One thing you got to keep in mind with any of these is it’s limited to the air pressure at the end of the line put out by whatever machine you’re using. so I’m sure my 1300 pounds take off Powers is more like 800 🤷🏼****♂️but that’s the game.

Glad to hear the positive things about the 1150.
I ordered one and should have it in time for my brake job this weekend.
I love getting new tools. :)

Should do fine as decent hitting gun and reliable.
I would recommend complimenting it with a hard hitting nano 1/2" as that what I use 90% of the time in a daily auto and light farm repair shop.
Something like the astro nano max (low cost) as good 550ft/lbs and small so ideal for caliper bracket bolts and flywheel pulley and all other tight space scenarios .
1150 nice when truly need 1,000ft/lbs plus but rest of time it just bulk and weight not required .
