The 1150 is a stronger unit when it comes to ft/lbs. I sell both at my store. I would definitely choose the 1550. It's a superior unit. While I have had to warranty some of the 1220's (not much though), the 1150 has never had an issue.

Aircat line use to be assembled in USA from mostly Taiwan components. Not sure if that's still the case. Basically your standard twin anvil impact that needs to be greased and oiled occasionally.

Nitrocat line is made in Taiwan and uses a sealed clutch mechanism in an oil bath and must be oiled regularly (few drops of air tool oil, store with handle facing up) or the clutch seals wear out and it will start to leak the fluid inside the clutch motor.

Nitrocat line is stronger, has a much higher burst torque rating. Makes it a little more dangerous around rusty junk just waiting to break though since its very hard to tease the trigger compared to a standard impact.

there is no sealed clutch in the aircat line, and what is this clutch seal and clutch motor your talking about? there are a cam ball, cam tower,2 hammer pins, a spring, the anvil and a spacer. there is an oil seal on the front housing.

I just got an used 1200 but one of the bolt of my car couldn't be taken off. I am not sure if it is the problem of used one or not? Should I get a new one or choose 1150 instead?

Yes, there is in the Nitrocat series. The clutch is sealed in its own oil inside the hammer housing. This is directly from the Aircat FAQ on lubrication.

Twin Clutch- Use 1 oz. of 30w motor oil, but only if you see it leaking. Otherwise, the tool should be fine. For routine maintenance, just oil through the air inlet every night and leave the handle pointing up. It will be ready to go the next morning. Light weight air tool oil is all you need.

If you still dont believe me you can go buy one and remove the fill plug on the bottom the housing and see what happens.

Aircat 1150, if you use torque sticks.

I purchased the 1150 and the care instructions specifically state not to use torque sticks. Can anyone say why?

In any case, I only see three real differences between the two models.
1)The material of the housing
2)Lubrication: -1150 uses air tool oil
-1200 uses 5-30 motor oil
3)The 1150 is faster! 1,400 blows per minute compared to 950 (less cold weather).

The last two reasons are why I chose the 1150. Oh yeah and the 1200 is advertised for use on medium/heavy duty equipment.

My experience with the 1150 over the last four months I've had it has been very positive. The ONE time I put it down to reach for a snap-on impact was when I was doing tires on an '85 Buick. His didn't break the lug either. Then, I switched from a 22mm to a 13/16 socket and a few rapid taps of my aircat impact later the lug begrudgingly came off.

I love my 1150. The only things I don't like about it is that the trigger isn't very responsive. It's pretty much on/off. But the variable power settings help compensate for that quite a bit.

All Aircat and Nitrocat impacts use air tool oil through the air inlet. The difference is the Nitrocat uses motor oil for the front gearbox housing and the Aircat uses grease.
