I’m in the market for getting a new impact and I have it narrowed down between two. 1178vxl and the 1250k. By looking at the specs for both I can’t really make up my mind. I’ve saw allot on here ( GJ ) about the 1250k and it being well liked but never see much of anything about the 1178vxl. I’m leaning more towards the 1178 mainly because it’s close to 2” shorter in length than the 1250. If you all was going to pick between the two which would you get a0a557a7e01597d92253f99738aa61a7.jpgf7b31f0d3c89ce8bfc1ae8846fad49ef.jpg

I'm a diesel truck tech, and I can tell you the 1250k is an awesome gun and would buy it again. Do you have applications where the length is a big deal?

No not really but I figure the shorter one would be the best one for those times when the longer one won’t fit because of being too long. I mean they both have the same torque ratings and the 1178 even has a year longer warranty. I do just have a home shop but I’ve been known to have been working on just about every coming and going from atv’s and golf carts to back hoes and Silverado’s lol. Also another thing is their both basically the same price

I'm an automotive tech and own the 1250k while it's an amazing gun, it has one major flaw that makes me say do not buy it. The nose cone is packed with oil to lubricate the anvil and hammers. The oil requires changing and takes a ton of time to drain and refill which drives this flat rate tech crazy! So I'd go with the vx because it's grease filled instead of oil. also I've had the nose seal leak twice inside of my toolbox.

1178 is more versatile mainly as sensible size with decent power and nicer to use design .

Subscribed, I'm considering AIRCAT 1778-VXL, but I'm not thrilled with the trigger. Hopefully someone that has one will comment.

1250k is proven. Not sure you can say that about the 1178. Does it still have a plastic trigger?

As far as I can tell it still has a plastic trigger. It will be my luck as soon as I grab one they upgrade the trigger. :dunno: The good news is I want the tool, I don't need it at the moment.
