bought a aircat 1/2 drive impact ,1000th model in january of 2009
well thursday it quit working 15 monthes after purchase and 3 monthes out of warrenty
now i will have to get it repaired and/or replace with new impact
this really pisses me off !!
yeah it has seen medium to heavy use , but i always maintained it oil ect and never abused it
i figure in the 15 monthes i have owned it , that it really has not seen a years worth of work
i work 5 days a week , and if you account for weekends and vacation time and a few days off here and there , this tool has seen less than a years worth of use :bounce:
so what is the moral of this story/complaint ?
never buy anything but an ingersol rand air tool......lesson learned!!!!!
if anyone here works for aircat , let it be known i will NEVER EVER buy another aircat tool....i expected better from this tool/company
if i wanted to buy a air impact once a year or so i coulda bought a craftsman or harbor freight tool ...
ok rant over ... i feel better now

This sounds familiar to other reviews I have heard; they don't seem to be durable. What are other people's experiences with air cat?

I love mine. I sold my IR for it.

My IR die grinder is a flaming turd. It's been outlasted by several HF ones. I can't wait to replace it with an aircat.

I love both my AirCat guns, and haven't touched my IR231 since buying the aircats. I don't make a living with my tools, so I'm sure they get a lot less use than yours, but if you want to buy my 231, I don't need it. :)

This doesn't sound very flattering! I guess their after sales support is lacking or so it seems... anyone had to have their tool serviced?

billymade , that reminds me i emailed aircat about warrenty (before i looked up purchase date at nationaltoolwarehouse) thinking it was still under warrenty .
i told them i had sent in the warrenty card when i bought gun , so where should i send gun for repair?, they emailed back that i needed to send a copy of purchase receipt with gun !!!!!:shocking:
my question is why.....i sent in warrenty card .....

yeah.. shows you didn't read your manual properly.. or the warranty information that came with it. It actually makes alot of sense, if only you just read it properly..

Anyway, aircat seems to always get a beating by unsatisfied consumers because they are ingersolls competitor it seems, but when an IR lasts 6 months, people just keep quiet and say to themselves.. "but damn its been a good 6 months! ill get it repaired and use it for another well worth it 6 months.." You all know this is true.

Find a service provider that works on IR/CP and Campbell Hausfeld... ALOT of the mid line air tools have interchangeable parts , ALOT. They can take it apart and find the kit that fits, I had personally fixed a SO and Mac or two w/ kits from CH and IR (don't ask what models cause it was nearly a decade ago and the tools were probably a decade older than that)... You do have to find a service provider that is willing to take the time and knows what they are looking at, sometimes it takes a bit of research to track down the proper kit/parts through the use of diagrams and lists.

...
my question is why.....i sent in warrenty card .....

cause someone could purchase the tool, use it for a year THEN send in the warranty card, they need D.O.P. (date of purchase)...

I just buy a 2135Ti, and trade it in when I start to feel it fade for ~3/4 of the value of a new one off the truck, and buy one online for 1/2 the tool truck price. Guns wear out, it's the name of the game.

Aircats wear out quickly and have no balls.
Get IR impact
Now, you have been warned

the IR2135TiMax is awesome. had the ThunderGun before that but didn't like it because it was too heavy, too noisy, and the 2135 has better torque. i've never been around or heard of anyone locally that has an aircat, but have often wondered how they run, so i am interested in everyone's comments. :)

I have the 1200k kevlar airkitty along with the 3/8" ratchet 90 ft.lbs. I bought mine on Amazon and bought the 3 yr. warranty with them :)
So far no problems at all. When my Dad's Napa impact won't take lugs off the kitty will do it easily.

Thanks, JASTECH
