Airless paint sprayer: how do i test it??

i am looking for a used one. besides spraying some paint, how do it test it if i am at someones house checking it out?

If it's heavily used there will be wear on the piston. Not sure if there would be any way to tell if it atomizes correctly. If you are getting something like a Graco there are rebuild kits for them, might want to look at that and factor that into your price.

Are you using it indoors or outside? Plan to back roll.

I have been using an airless since the early '70's. Once pumped up, it should sit at rest until you pull the trigger, otherwise it needs packings. No big deal if things aren't chewed up inside. And the only way you will know that is to pull it apart.

So, check the overall condition. People who care about these things don't let them look like ****. And remember, an airless is dangerous. The pressure at the tip will easily rip right through your skin. Not a good thing if it's got thinner or paint in it. The hose can explode at any time. I've seen them shoot paint all over the place.

I'd get a new hose and I always have a fresh tip on hand because they are only good for a few hours.
