I was in the same boat as you, I ended up buying a used low-end commercial unit that retails for $900 (like a top of the line HD or Lowes model). I paid $325 off Ebay for a used Titan 440E. The unit works great, I am glad I went with a larger unit because it really sprays heavy laytex well. Keep an eye on ebay, but be patient for one that is well taken care of.

I saw the same model at Costco, and was wondering about it's performance as well.

By the way, I think it sells for $170 at Costco, and may come with the roller attachment.

Lots of reviews at epinions:

Basically, it seems to be a great value for the non-professional. Most people were very pleased with how well it worked. The cleaning time, small paint capacity were common complaints. Some people had issues with the quality of some of the internal parts.

Home depot rents the pro grade sprayer. That little one will just irritate you through the job.
We dont have a home depot here or any other good hardware store that rents the sprayers. Im pretty sure I want something bigger than the wagner so Ill keep checking ebay.

If you are only going to do one paint job, it really may not be worth it.

I have a Graco Pro model and it is great, takes all the time out of painting, but is a pain in the *** to clean, plus you waste a bunch of paint as it fills the filter and the hose. Once the paint bucket is empty, there is nothing to push the rest of the paint out.

Just my .02 ;)

Not sure if it is a good idea, but when I am done and want to save the paint in the pump and hose I put the suction hose in a bucket of water, then remove the tip from the gun and pump the paint back into the paint bucket while watching for the tint/consistency to change, then you know the water has pushed most the paint out. If you wait too long, I guess you thinned the paint a bit, no big deal. You could do the same thing with oil based with mineral spirits.

I have a Wagner Paint Crew that I got last year, the one you showed. I used it to prime and paint my parents house. It worked perfectly, I have no complaints. Adam
