airline hose question

hi its my first post on this forum after lurking for a while basically i just bought a ingersoll rand 2145qimax 3/4 impact wrench the air line fitting size which goes into the gun is 3/8 does that mean i should be using 3/8 air hose or will using standard 1/4 hamper the power output from the gun thanks ?

You need a larger hose. Make sure that you have it all the way to the compressor. A larger hose will do no good if it has a smaller restriction in it somewhere.

Ideally a 3/4 gun has a 3/8 fitting and a 1/2 hose. With smaller hose shorter is good, huge difference with that gun on 25 vs 50 ft when the hose is undersized with a 3/8.

From my experience 3/4" impacts need 1/2" hose and 3/8" fittings to perform at an acceptable level. Most top shelf 1/2" impacts will out perform the 3/4" impact if plugged into 3/8" hose and 1/4" fittings.

As hose size affects performance, keep in mind SCFM of your AComp is the key factor.
