AKRO Bins: Anybody Worry About Them Aging?

I've got AKRO bins of all sizes in several situations around the shop. They are so nice for hardware. Not all are AKRO branded but clones, so no comment on quality can be made. Some are on a cart, some on the wall plate, some on single rails, and others resting on a bench or shelf. They range in size from 3x3x5, to 11x11x7,

But my real question is:Like all plastics, deterioration to the point of weakness is likely, someday. Any of you rotate or toss or recycle them? What age do you expect them to fail?

I suppose some of you industrial guys will have some real life experience. I have not seen any sign of weakness but I dream about finding a cascade of 50,000 screws all over my floor. Am I worrying for nothing?

Keep them out of sunlight and they should outlast you. UV can be hard on plastics. I have some clear AKRO bins that are close to 20 years old and are still as good as new.

Mine are over 20 years old and no signs of deterioration. Some of them are older up to 30+ yrs.

Even if they do eventually deteriorate they are not all going to fail at one time.

Cripes I have had ****** Harbor Freight sourced ones for at least 20 years now. None of them are really any the worse for wear either after all that time. All loaded too. I did design my plywood rack to allow them to set atop each other when they are hooked the wall hanger strap

I would also say just keep them out of the direct sunlight for expected longer life

Same here. My crappy HF bins are at least 30 years old and many have been overloaded for years. None have failed. I have since started buying the much higher quality Akro-Mills bins, and I don't worry about them.

Good video, thanks.

We buy them by the thousands in automotive manufacturing, they are used in every station on the production lines. Often overloaded as **** and they go for a very long time. The only thing that seems to wear out is the tabs on the back after moving them hundreds of times. Great products!

Mine are 25-30 years old too, some getting UV through a basement window, and they've held up just fine.

No-name bins have faded somewhat, depending on color (reds are especially sensitive) but the Akro-Bins are just like the day I got them.
