Alas 10d modification

Looking at buying a well used 10d x 24 and it needs attention. I'm new at this so pardon some of my terminology. The cross slide hand-wheel is extremely sloppy and if I lift up the chuck by hand I can feel the play.

My question is: Can I buy a complete carriage and head stock from a 10F and replace the ones I have. The 10d has babbit bearings and I would love to have real bearings on that spindle.

Have seen a few floating around on Ebay but maybe someone has these items for sale privatley.

The thing sounds flat worn out, it's not that great of a lathe in the first place. Unless you are getting it for next to free and or are looking for a potentially frustrating and $ consuming project I'd walk away. BTW, welcome
