Hi Everyone. It was suggested I start a Thread for this tool. Apparently it could be an oddball type of tool

Thanks for showing me the link to the other site!

You are quite welcome.
You would do well to check out Private Lugnutz's "sticky" thread HERE:
That's the best place to start if you're looking for information about a vintage tool or tool manufacturer.

The second-hand market seems to be glutted with those devices, made by a number of different companies, like Don's "Dunlap" just above.
I would not be surprised if there turned out to be some kind of "valve grinder collector" club somewhere.

Everyone made one of these. I have the Blackhawk version of the same tool. Nobody seems to want them and most have no idea what the tool is used for. The last one I saw at the flea was a Craftsman and priced at 3 bucks there were no takers.

I don't know why Albertson cited the Hazeltine patents in the SIOUX valve grinders. The underlying mechanical concept of alternate gear sectors providing reciprocating / partially advancing rotation was used by multiple valve grinder manufacturers. The SIOUX grinders had their own set of patents which were somewhat couched as refinements / improvements on the provisions of those earlier patents. My father-in-law was still using SIOUX hand-held grinders for engine tune-up (flathead FORD & two-cylinder JOHN DEERE ) in the 1960s. Regards, Stan S.

I picked one up from a dollar table yesterday. Then saw two on a different table at $5ea. I have seen them before and not purchased, but for $1, I figured I could satisfy my curiosity.

Here's a pair of combination valve lappers/ breast drills. The reciprocating valve lapping motion can be switched off so the tools can be used as a regular breast drill. Ashcroft on the left, Mifco on the right. I wasn't responsible for the red and yellow color scheme on the Mifco.
