I have a bit of a caster fetish as I am always equipping my various tools/storage/etc.. with casters.

Anyways, after buying a bunch for myself I though I would share.

Albion brand (high quality) has sets of 4 casters on blow out in Amazon. I believe this is error of sorts, seems Amazon may be getting out of the caster business as many of the casters only show qty 1 and on sale. But when the product is a pack of 4 at qty 1 its on sale for a very good price?

You have to search "Albion (pack of 4)" otherwise results get messy.

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_...rds=albion+(pack+of+4)&ie=UTF8&qid=1500503161

For perspective, these are selling for $5-20/ea where they normally sell for $20-80/ea.

Thanks I grabbed a 4-pack of 6" sold by Hand Trucks & Casters (not Amazon). $70 for four decent 6" casters seemed good, although they're only rated 800# ea they are swivel w side brake. These also had "clearance" in the item description.

Now, I have zero idea what I'm gonna do w 6" casters - yet!

Extra soft would be good for something like rolling work surface that does not take lots of heavy loads. Derlin is similar, more brittle, but would be good for a equipment stand etc...

If keeping your work stationary is important, you should definitely look at braking casters. But if you really need it to stay, "locking + braked" casters are great, locks the directional spin and the wheel rotation.

Much appreciated.

Set a budget of $100 and made it with only a few pennies to spare!

well dang, a day too late for me. I would have much rather bought new, & ones that matched the original hole pattern, but I recycled some casters to put on my Weber grill I got on clearance at HD a few months back. They say 'backyard grilling' but their grill wheels aren't worth a hoot for rolling on a lawn. They also seem to bind up easy, and not even roll. Ended up having them welded on by a neighbor, but would have been nice to have a easy removal option.

good find OP

Thanks OP - while I was late to the game, I picked up a set each of the 05 series 5" rigid and swivel casters. Around $12/ea delivered is a good deal for those. The 05 series must be for food processing equipment - it's all stainless with delrin bushings. Many of them didn't have matched sets for rigid/swivel. I have projects that need 'em though!

Do you have a link to this? Can't seem to find it on amazon.

Glad im not the only one who likes a good set of casters.

Mine have all shipped, I should be getting them tomorrow. Hopefully they are indeed sets of 4.

The description list 4 pcs + the shipping weight is about right.

I can finally get rid of anything I have with HF casters! I hate those, seriously. They jam, they mar, they "track" all over the place even if the floor is smooth, leave skid marks. I scored a set of colosons for free and what a difference. I know Albion is same level so should be great!

First plan is to upgrade my HF moving dollies with some of these.

For context, the green casters are 5" and 7-8lbs each.

Delivery guy did not like it, scattered my boxes all over my driveway.

Got the black 6" casters for $50, normally $250...

You just need to increase your purchase activity further. My wife can't keep track, she finally just gave up. Then again she never nagged, she just liked to see what I got and what it does.

Thanks for the heads up!
I bought a few sets of 4" and 5" for general use, and a set of the $70 8" polyurethanes to build a car body cart!

Plan to put wheels on my sandblast cabinet so I can roll it outside, and build some dollies for various tractor implements.

Yep, $70 for a set of 4 quality 8" casters seems extremely reasonable. I put 8" on my gantry crane years ago and I'm torn - they roll nicely but the scrub radius to swivel them is huge - - OTOH they're big enough you can kick them around with steel toes.

Anyway, you should post up your body cart build in Fabrication & Techniques when the time comes.
