Alden Wrench - Ratcheting Open End

I have some of these and they work very well for there intended purpose which is line fittings. I know there was a few talking about flare nut wrenches damaging fasteners because they did not fit good enough (I think it might have been because of the angle) so I thought you guys might want to take a look at these.

I was interested in those for a while. Are the jaws spring-loaded?
Do they feel pretty solid?

Crapsman makes/made a wrench about like that a few years ago that didn't ratchet, but would simulate the ratcheting concept because you did not have to remove it from the nut or bolt to turn it. But depending on whether you tightened or loosened the fastener you had to turn the wrench over. Biggest POS wrench set I ever owned. They only get used for the box end portion.

I saw a demo setup of these wrenches (or similar) in Carquest a week ago. I thought that they were quite innovative, but was turned off when I saw they were stamped ROC. Are these a USA product?

Same here. I forgot which auto parts store I saw them in until you mentioned it.


Honestly, if I had a set of these, I would still use my traditional wrenches anyway.

How much do you use them compared to your regular wrench sets? Are they really worth the investment in your opinion?????

Sorry took so long, I have been away. They work Great for what they are intended for. But to be honest I use my regular wrenches WAY more. I only break out the aldens when there is a nut with a very minimal amount of rotating space. I got them at a discount, that is why I got them. If it was the other way around I probally wouldn't have gotten them. I really don't use them enough. Oh and by the way, they are 30$ for a 3 piece set, but each wrench has a differn't size on each end, so you really get 6 sizes in a set. So for 60$ you get 12 differnt sizes. Not to bad.

I have a SAE set of wrenches similar to these but they have EZ wrench on them, or something like that. I am not sure where I put them I will have to look.

These Craftsmans are pure ****. I have a set of these. I got them as a gift a few years back. I don't even use the box end of them as I have enough combo wrenches to cover any task I have. I know what they were thinking with the design, they just failed to pull it off at all. Maybe I'll cut that end off of them and use them for..... something?
