I notice that the Aldi socket sets are on sale this weekend. I bought a set last time before I started my Handyman business and have since been using the set a lot, especially on the end of my impact driver. I have given the sockets a real beating and they do not show any signs of damage. So if you are after a small cheap set of sockets they are not bad value. The set I have are made in Taiwan hopefully they still are.

Is that the German bargain store and food market chain? I have not been in one though there is one near by. I am only guessing but having looked at their flyers I suspect that it was a one time deal and once they are gone, that's it.

That place is great for food. You're in and out because there's only one brand/style of each food item, so the place is small and concise. The prices are great.

Yeah some of their tool offerings are a good deal. I haven't seen any sockets, though. They usually have clamps, small toolboxes, general tools, hardware.

There's a new Aldi a couple of miles from me. We've only been there one time, but I'll drop in and see if they have any tools.

Yeah, they call their line of tools "Workzone". Not exactly "great" quality but better than a poke in the eye.

They're set of ratchet spanners that they sell now and then are excellent quality and only about £10 for a set of 5.

Things I have tried
Table saw, powerful 2400w but the table was **** replaced with plywood. Worked ok until a bearing went in the motor replaced bearing after buying a dewalt saw and gave it to a friend, save your money for a better table saw.
Sockets, I like them as above,
F Clamps cheap and decent.
Quick clamps pretty ordinary but I still use them they just seem a bit flimsy.
Little paint buckets, work well.
Drop sheet, canvas as good as any.
Chainsaw, $100 chain break stuck on, managed to fix it works ok for the pruning etc I do but probably save your money for something better.
Small ratchet straps, no issues use them alot.
Screw driver with bit set, huge number of different bits good for those weird screws, driver did not like me hitting it with a hammer, still works but a bit crooked. Good buy if you disassemble electronics etc.
Random orbital sander, large, worked ok for awhile but wasn't great. Using it one day and it suddenly started spinning at a crazy speed. Now it has absolutely no torque but spins so fast it rips through wood and paint like nothing leaving huge gouges if your not careful. It is awesome for stripping paint and shaping wood now! Save your money.
All in all a bit hit and miss.

They had some general purpose screwdriver sets a couple of years ago which ended up about $3 on clearance; good kitchen drawer quality, I must have bought about 10 sets! gave a set to all the pretty young ones at work who were setting up house, I got so many brownie points! The Allen key sets are great, tin snips the best I own, better than Wiss. Punch and cold chisel sets good.
