Ok, so fell in love with the look of the old Alemite benches but they don't grow on trees and if I had a real one it might end up in living room. So, I'm building my old transmission teardown bench into a tribute bench. cf1b17b17396a3019db5a1183c66b48c.jpg1700f91c392bbed88de4fcbfb89df570.jpga53e2f889b93d816d120fab5d9f3a44c.jpgdff54072b3926811864fcc5850273d80.jpg3b604a060bfa34be1360ae7317ce0fae.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200511/bacb8a88cd5512c7037fe37492a71600.jpg

I guess I got carried away... Lol

That is the effect of some people on this board Not to mention any names but Don, Doc, Royce and on and on and on! Doc's Machine grinder stand took a simple welding table refurbish and turned it into a two + year and probably $1200 (+) new one, Don's (Longs) Alemite bench rebuild is sickening I want that so Bad! Royce just dreams up ways to make me rethink every project with "if I just... it will look so COOL" another member's drill sharpeners wheel add on added another month to the wheels on my fan! If I keep reading here I'll never finish anything and I'm working on an unknown number of projects all at once [no I can't count that high] so it seems like glaciers are moving faster to start with! Any way that is looking great, I'm almost ready to start delaying others projects with my "Project Creep" Hope to see more of this Thanx for Sharing! Harry

Is that a 33 or 34 Ford grill hanging on your wall? The bench looks the way an Alemite bench would look if built today.

Admire your dedication:thumbup: I passed up an original Alemite at a scrap yard 6 or 7 years ago. It must of sat outside in the dirt for quite awhile because the bottom 6 inches was about totally rusted away. I had never seen one before but it had that art deco look that was cool and I should have rescued it but I had a million other irons in the fire and I had no idea it had any real value at the time. $50 would of bought it.:shocking:

Very nice Menifee
Building that from scratch is most impressive. It will go well in your Texaco garage. I need to come over for some sheet metal lessons. Please

I'm SO impressed. What will the final color and "theme" be? I guess I mean will it have signs from a particular Gas Company?

Will this be automotive paint, Rustoleum or powder coated? Whatever you do it's truly going to be special. Hell, it is already! Huge congrats on having the skills.

I don't know why you are blaming me :headscrat

Truly a great project. That bench is the winner of work benches for sure.
It looks huge and I really like the kick panels for the bottom corners.
I'm really enjoying watching your progress.

Thank you

Thanks Dan! Main body in red, doors either black or silver, feedback welcome. Theme was gonna be Texaco although it may be Speed Shop themed. This go around will just be rustoleum. I may paint nicer later but I want to get back on 57 Chevy project so I gotta save a bit on this project.
