Hello,

in this thread, I like to share some of my work. I don't like to start for every project a new thread, so I hope it is okay, when I collect all of my shop work here.

This was my last little project for my garage:

It is a stainless steel rack, to storage four benches on the wall.

Cheers
Alex

Here is another project, which I was done some weeks ago.

It is a Downpipe and a exhaust pipe for a Volkswagen Golf IV GTI.

But a picture says more than thousand words...

Nice job on those projects. Very nice welds, too. Do you weld professionally? If not,you could have fooled me.

hey Mike, thank you! I appreciate it.

No I'm not a professional welder. I started welding, when I was 14 years old and now, 10 years later, that is the result...haha. But I think my skills are okay, but a professional welder is ten times better....

The setup and clean material is very important on stainless steel. So I use a big gas nozzle , a lots of Argon gas, grind and clean all my material before welding and use acetone to remove the grinding dust.

A friend of mine, he is a professional welder, use a special gas on stainless steel. He use 98% argon with 2% hydrogen. So the arc is hotter and you can use far less ampere.
One day I will give this special gas a try, but you can't use this on "normal" steel....

You can weld faster and you have a nice gold TIG weld.

Cheers

Alex

You can see the big gas nozzle at one of my videos on youtube. A link to my channel is in my public profile. This one is made by weldcraft.

Cool rack and nice welds! I'm just learning TIG and am looking forward to trying some stainless. I have a ways to go before my welds look like yours;-) Is that 304? I do a lot of boat repair and am interested to try 316.

Thank you!

Yes it is SS 304, but I think 316 isn't very different to weld. For me is TIG welding on stainless steel or aluminium much easier than TIG welding on steel. For steel I use my MIG welder.

More project pictures coming soon!

Cheers!

Alex, nice projects and I'll agree with everybody that your welds look excellent. I love the racks you built. I can tell a lot of thought and work went into those.

Hey everybody,

here is a link to one of my videos from last weekend. I was at the " Brazzeltag". This is a big event in Germany with a lot of oldtimer, race cars and jeeps. And all machines are running!

I know it isn't a shop project, but I think a lot of you guys like these things.

Enjoy it!

Cheers Alex

The Technik Musem is on my list when I get to go to Germany. Getting to see some of the cars running looks like a lot of fun.

@Iron-Iceberg

yes this place is very interesting! Every year in May is this event and that the cars and the big ship are running is again another level.
Can I only recommended.
