Alien Head Planer-Usefulness?

I'm thinking of adding an alien head planer to my Craftsman "stable". How well do they work vs a normal style planer? I'd like something useful and cool looking.

Anybody have experience using them, or are they mostly decorative?

In for info, I picked one up for a killer deal but it's been sitting on a shelf until I get time to go through it and make a stand for it to hold the motor. Besides that I've had a 12" Delta that I've only used once or twice so it's no rush to get to the Alien Head.

I think their limited width is the downfall for most people.

Mine is still in pieces cluttering up my shop. But it still looks cool sitting there.
(my 12" Delta is in my way as well)
