Looking at taking up the carpet in the living room in about two weeks and replacing it with laminate wood flooring. Found two designs and colors we liked; one from allen & roth and the other from swiftlock.

Being in the living room I expect high traffic and we also have two labs so traffic from dogs coming in and out will also be a factor.

Is one brand better than the other? Any experience in these two brands by chance?

When I redid our bathroom, the sink and countertop is from Allen+Roth. They came from Lowes. I would try to see who the manufacturer actually is. That may not matter much though unless its a Pergo or big name brand. I found 5/8" Bruce red oak hardwood plan that was great b/c it slid under the baseboard. My lab has pretty well scratched the floor to pieces. It can be refinished though. Hopefully whatever you choose you can compare apples to apples with thickness, construction , finish warranty,etc... Good luck!

i have used swift lock in a bedroom. My father used swiftlock as well, the stuff with the padding underlayment already on the plank. I will never us laminate in my house again, WHy?? Because its 100 yrs old and the floors are not level. If you're floors are not level then i would look into a different product. I installed glue down viynl tile. Just my .02. Good luck !

I have not been impressed with the Allen&Roth line from Lowes. It seems like low end stuff.

Was hoping to go visit other stores this weekend for flooring. Is there a brand that you would suggest looking into?
