Allen wrench holder

I don't use them enough to keep them in a holder on the workbench but I do like to keep them together so I don't loose track of them. They came in plastic pouches - one set is metric and one is inch. The plastic pouches are cracking. I have thought of making a tube with PVC pipe with a threaded on cap. It would be durable but a bit bulky to fit in a drawer. Wondering what other people do...

My solutions pictured. The green one is a special Allen index box. Also use a plastic pencil box for the misc. collection.

Klein sells those bags.

However, reminds me of my first craftsman set in the clear plastic bag with a snap. To get one out you had to dump the whole bag and start guessing on sizes. Far from ideal.

I use the plastic keepers they come in. Some of those L type sets are so cheap it might make sense to buy a new set just for a new plastic rack. Use the new wrenches as back ups.

Either that or make something.

I would go bonkers without a plastic holder for my Allen wrenches.

Indeed, that style of hex key wrench holder is the gold standard today. They can be purchased without the wrenches.

The only hassle with them is that in order to get out a smaller wrench, you have to twist several of the other ones out of the way. But it sure does hold them in order in a small space.

Throw them in the spare **** drawer and go buy sets in holders. Allen key sets are so cheap as to not being worth it to **** with this. Then go buy some sets of Allen sockets which will make the keys resort options.

I dont use Allen keys enough to really consider removing one from those plastic holders a "hassle".

I dont think most people cause them enough for that either.

The biggest hassle for me is reminding myself to put them back in their holder and not just throw it into a jar with loose stuff

Seems like an awful waste to 3D print a part that you can just buy from Bondhus, etc. They've already spent the money to make proper molds...

I only buy the type that come in the plastic holders.

Same. Quality matters a lot for hex keys, and the better brands all come with nice holders.

My fave is Wera hexplus keys in the Wiha ergostar holders. The convenience and functionality outweigh the cost.

Yep. That's the best right there.

Not a bad option too; simple and durable.

I agree. If you are using hex keys often enough that the holder is a hassle then sockets, T-handles, Flag/Wing handles, etc would make far more sense than the crappy key.
