I'm looking for test leads with alligator clips. I do not like the add-on alligator clips that attach to a test probe.

I need meter side banana plugs like these

I want commercially made leads to avoid issues with resistance/voltage drop.

Want in one hand and.....nvm had too lol. I've never had an issue with the add on clips adding resistance. Pomona has some nice leads I'm trying to find the company that makes custom leads

I wasn't concerned with the clips on the end of test probes adding resistance-i just don't like that design. I was concerned with adding resistance if I were to buy a set of test probes, cut the probes off, and solder alligator clips onto them.

CAT has some nice test leads for backprobing... They are spoons that fit into connectors. I have used them well on everything. Number is 7x-1710.

You can easily make some leads of your own with alligator clips and banana plug. I made two sets of various connector leads (one set for general automotive, one set completely for CAT) that are made to fit into the terminals.. Anyhow, my point in that is im saying that you wont get any extra resistance. Make a set of leads and ohm them out. Should be at or less than .3ohms of resistance.

I have never had any problems either using the add on clips, other than the fact they dont really lock on like id expect them too.... But what can you expect for a couple bucks?

Those are the exact leads I use all the time on my Wavetex meter. I always have a tough time finding them. Probably why I buy sevral at a time...

Pomona (owned by Fluke).

Check their full line catalog starting at page 44. They are not cheap. Any big electronics warehouse will carry them (DigiKey, Mouser, Allied, Newark).

If they don't have it, it doesn't exist !

I have leads that allow alligator clips to screw on never has been an issue. If at 40 bucks a pop I would get over it pretty fast.

http://www.testpath.com/ is where I think I last looked at some, but no way around it, premium test leads are going to cost some money. Especially weird for me since all my meters are cheap, no more than about $35, and I will have $100 in leads before I am done if not more.

Part of it is the shrouded banana all the new meters use is still an expensive connector, but high quality silicone wire isn't cheap.

Those alligator clips are the instrument of the devil.. Ask me I'll tell you that they dont grip anything and have a habit of falling of at the least opportune time. And ask one of my offsiders what he thinks, he managed to cause a not so minor unplanned outage using those to do some live to air alarm telemetry testing middle of last year.
