Allstar 6500 light bulb question

Hello,

I have an older model Allstar 6500 garage door opener in our garage. It had a standard 65W incandescent bulb in it, which came on when the door opened or closed and shut off a few minutes later. I recently replaced the bulb with a cheap 5W (60W equivalent) LED one, and noticed that it's always on faintly, and brightens when the door opens or closes. A quick check with a multimeter showed that the light bulb socket has a standing 0.01V all the time, which goes up to the expected ~117V when the bulb should be on.

It seems that the 0.01V is enough to make the LED glow. Has anyone else seen this? Any idea why there may be a tiny standing voltage on the socket when it's supposed to be off?

Thanks!

LEDs need very little power to operate. It's not unusual to see one glowing when the circuit is supposedly off. You probably have a little current in the socket coming from some piece of electronics in the opener. Wish I knew more about the guts of a garage door opener to help.

If I had to guess, I'd say there's a standby voltage in the opener for the receiver waiting for a signal from the remote, and it's back feeding the bulb.
