Well, been kind of lurking, looking for ideas and tips. I have my application in for my building permit and should have it in 2 weeks or so. The permit wasn't needed (ag zoning and no electrical at this time) but was only $50 and I welcome a second set of eyes on my work. It will be 24x36, scissor trusses, with about 10 foot sidewalls (8 foot studs, CMU foundation up to 2 feet above ground level). Two 8 foot garage doors (in line to allow me to pull through) and a 10 foot by 11 foot door. I'm building on a budget (have everything but the concrete, studs and plywood, have about $500 into materials so far) and am doing stages, first is the shell, then floor, then electrical, finally insulate and finish inside as money allows. I'm hoping to have the floor in before end of the summer, probably electrical and finish over next winter.
I don't envy you guys who live in convenant (read DEVIL
) controlled areas. I went in to the county planning, showed my plans (I drew them), the inspector had 3 changes (height of building, 8 inch footing vs 6 inch, and setback off of road ROW). No "engineering" required (although I are one
) Said fill out the application, fax in the changes, running about 2-3 weeks to review and issue a permit. I will have to fill out a new application for the electrical (or a revision depending on whether I've had final yet), the concrete and finish they don't care about.
Any additional input, tips, ideas? I'm thinking floor drain in the pull through bay (ideally add a lift in the other bay at some point).
