👋 Going to document trying to build out my small 17x18 garage that we use as a home base for all things alpinism, fixing unreliable british cars (& formerly reliable german), and hope to learn from others on how to use the space as efficiently as possible.

I'm on "Phase 2" of the space, did some small things last year in September (paint, costco lighting, dog wash station) and looking to move to Phase 3.

Phase one was a basic drywall garage, complete with a 54" homak RS-PRO combo, 3x whalen shelving units with Canadian Tire mastercraft totes, and junk...

Phase 2 (current state) looks like this:

Phase 3:
Small shed outdoors to relocate LR4 wheels/tires & random junk. Wall mounted pressure washer, swisstrax flooring, workbench (finally with a vise), and TBD! I have a 150 item google keep checklist of ideas/projects/thoughts.

I also have a call scheduled with the Obsessed Garage design team for their ideas. I have a 6k cart 🙃 pending with them.

Looking forward to what comes next!

-Sylvester

103 cubic feet at the sacrifice of 22 square feet from our small backyard.

Should help a bunch with some bulky items.

Manual said 3 hours, went up in an hour with help from a friend. (his 911 in the first post)

Today was a solid day clearing out the attic and prepping for a habitat for humanity donation of household stuff we are no longer using. Also made a massive run of cardboard to the transfer station. Also got detailed dimensions over to the OG team. Great day.

Bonus photo from trad climbing at Index, WA yesterday!

Land rover set a new personal best, no known issues from October 2022 to June 2023. 🙃

It just started throwing Lean at idle Bank 0, after clearing it came back as Bank 1.

Ordered a smoke tester and found no obvious leaks. Man that stuff can get stinky, made a mistake doing that mostly in the garage, even with a fan...
Trying some more diagnostic stuff... I managed to do some more clearing work, and more items have arrived for the build out (vises, drill press, in-wall-dehumidifier, & more. 🥳) .

Have a stack of stuff waiting to donate to habitat for humanity to clear out even more space from the north wall.

Neat, I like the stacked cabinets. You must have a lot of large items that need stored in drawers, I prefer shallower drawers myself so things don't get stacked up on, but I don't have many items that require deep drawers.

So much progress today, donated a bunch of stuff to habitat for humanity thanks to a friend, stacked a ton of projects, cleared up so many areas of the house.

Assembled the super pimp new Vyper chair, unfortunately the tool tray came damaged so I need to reach out to them. This thing is BUILT.

Vacuum is quieter than it's suction noise, wild, so primo. The Milwaukee Air tip stuff is NICE, the power head for carpet needs a coupler to work with the flex extended tubing, but works with the mini coupler. Need to source this.

Now comes the permit game, hoping to finalize the design this week and start the application process. STACKS of project boxes and a few empties/returns in the "north wall tower" - rated Vexpensive. - https://www.99boulders.com/bouldering-grades

I think the next updates will take a bit. I think this is the end of prep, and fingers crossed soon the electrical / plumbing will start.

OK, back to real job work. Bummed I didn't have time to wash the salt stains, thinking of polishing the concrete before the swisstrax install, no idea what a 300 square foot job would cost in Seattle, anyone know?

First wash with the new setup, glorious.

Really surprised how well the paint has kept up after all the forest service roads and such.

No polishing yet, but there are some "love marks" that need attention.

There was that one time I flew a drone into the B pillar....
