Alternate vise mounting position

I have made a couple vise stands that rotated that proved to be very useful.
This bench has a t-slot in it, that allowed this vise to be mounted vertically.
It works like a offset vise or a vise to hold plates and bars horizontal.
I find I use it to hold stock horizontal a lot, it is handier and quicker than c-clamping to the bench.

Interesting concept. Did you get lucky enough that when the screw is vertical (second picture) that the fixed jaw is planer with the table top? I could see where that may advantageous at times.

Now if I could just find a planer table or a gang drill table.

That is a parker vise with a brake shoe style swivel lock, so it can be locked parallel with the bench top.
