alternative fan speed controller

i have a canarm 56" fan coming. i want to control the speed and direction. there is the Canarm CNFRMC5 Control i can get for $45 to $50. is there an alternative controller.

I ended up buying some wireless remote control units off amazon to control multiple canarm fans
The canarm control is nice but if you are retrofitting the fan/s it will add some complication to the install while the remote makes the install straightforward. IMHO

can you reverse the direction with the remote. if so wich one did you use.

No reverse but I never missed that feature,the air circulates well regardless of fan rotation direction.
