Hi all,
I'm having a bit of trouble with a sunroof repair on my car. I drilled the old rivets out that hold the back piece together and now I can't get another one to fit. It looks like the hole is no 5/16", which I understand does not exist. Due to the nature of the motor spinning the whole assembly, I believe that a nut and bolt will simply spin themselves loose. Is there any other alternative that I can use in place of the rivets that will not work loose with a sideways work being applied to them?
In the pictures attached, the plastic piece on the right mates to the metal on the left. Because of the nature of the motor pulling forward and back, I was told nuts and bolts are likely not going to hold. Just wondering if there's an alternative fastener that I can use to hold these together in a 5/16" that will not spin themselves loose.
In short; what I need is a fastener that will fit a 5/16" hole, fastens from either end, and will not fatigue or loosen from having side-to-side force applied.
