That is what I was looking for, just did not know the correct name for them. Thank you. The only issue with that is that we have to remove it each time we need access to the internal rope. I guess that beggers cannot be choosers!
I think that we are going to try a "bandaid" first. Pretty much a 3/16 x 2 x 6 piece of aluminum backing plate mounted to the inside and using 1/4" rivets to secure. Now we just need to find a 1/4" rivet gun/tool!

Just use 3/16” aluminum rivets that you can install with a standard hand tool. Just use 12 vs 8 of the 1/4”.

A permanent fix will be basically what you are doing here, but with a section of 6” pipe instead of two little sister plates. Looks like 2 ft of 6” aluminum pipe will set you back about $170. Cut it in half lengthwise, cut a new access port out of one of the halves , clamp it around the pole, and then spend like 3 hrs drilling and installing something like 50-100 rivets.
