Aluminum welding table????

I scored this machine table at work for scrap price, my first thought was welding table but I'm not sure I'd be happy with it. Maybe bolt a 1/4" plate to the top??
Any ideas?

Seems good for fixturing all kinds of stuff. But not sure I would make it my only bench. It could be something that's set on another solid surface or else hauled out on sawhorses when needed.

I thought about this, it's way too heavy to move around without its own table.
I'm leaning towards adding a steel top or possibly flat bars so I could still use the T slots.
I've been wanting a massive top forever, it's too bad it's not steel, it would be perfect.

I'm with Willie, sure looks like something other than aluminum to me.

Actually looks like a Fadal table with the vise stains and all.

Id use it as is, like was said, can fixture just about anything and should be more than flat enough.

Oh it's aluminum, I know since I made it but you are correct, it was on a fadal which we scrapped. It was there to give us more table space to mount the 4th axis.

Id still use it. My tig table is 1/4 aluminum plate.

Whats the problem? Too narrow?

It is a little narrow at 16" x 42"
but I'm more concerned about how well the surface will hold up, arcs and such.

When I started out I had a mess everywhere. Cloths burnt up, gloves burned and splatter all over. Now not much.
