Always a project or 2 on the go

I always have some type of project on the go and will share some more if there is interest. I have a fairly well equipped shop at home with millwork, metalwork and blacksmith equipment. Here are some shots of a handrail I glued up on the weekend. We started making the block to cut the layers for the out side handrail yesterday.

Yes I have a few clamps. Haven't counted but would guess around 450 all together. I just added 140 to the collection this weekend.

This is the way many of my projects start. The lumber is to short for my needs. We have to break out the board stretcher also known as the scarf joint. These pieces are now 19 feet long. They are for a beam detail on the ceiling a our house at the lake.

We got the block for handrail squared up and sized. Then we mark it so the layers all go back in the same sequence. We started cutting the plies but I had to catch a plane to Vegas for the rodeo. More to come in the next week. Oh and we glued a few more scarfs for the beams.

You and me both. There is short window to clamp the rails. It's like a speed event when you start. Cannot stop once you start.
