I have never used the locking wrench,, so I can assume it really works well? As for marring a fastemner, again,, its 44 years old and rusted. Wouldnt hurt it if it did. Stripping them ruins, a couple minor teeth marks not even noticeable in average work.

Yes, they work surprisingly well (assuming you have the room to use them). We discussed them here years ago, and the view was that they were not a tool that would receive frequent use, but could be a "life-saver" in certain cases...

I have the 10" & 4" versions for no especially good reason apart from being a bit of a tool *****...

You're right about the fastener already being shot in Bull's case though; if it wasn't I guess his flare nut wrenches would have worked...

I feel the pain.
I had a customer roll in last summer with a nasty S10 pickup from the salted road area.
I had to build a new hydraulic brake system for it.
I couldn't get the tube clamps off the frame without pulling chunks of frame out!
I tried to tell them them it was a bad idea, but my service advisor insisted on taking the job.
