Am I reading this nameplate right?

86 amps @ 220 for a 3 hp! Really? Maybe I can't use this old motor. I think it came from 1945ish. 86 amps would be more like locked rotor current.

My shop is three phase. Ive dealt a lot with newer motors, but being only 29, I don't have much experience with things older than my father. The electrical world was a little more wild west back then.

What type of 3-phase service do u have? Theres many voltage "flavors" of 3-phase....

I cant tell for sure due to the poor nameplate, but that motor is probably not rated for 208Y/120v service!!

It's marked 220/440.

Yea Ive ran enough motors at 208 to know it'll be OK at the duty cycle I am running it at. Ive worked on equipment that was 25 hp motor rated at 220 running on 196v 24/7. They would just rewind it every 3 years lol.

Yes, Im aware of that. However, some nameplates will have text below the table that states its operable on 208v systems if the current doesnt exceed x amount.
