Am I right to rant over a Snap on freebie

I recently purchased a KRL722 with a hardwood top over the in the United Kingdom. Now over here that's $5700 with the taxes even before the wooden top goes on. Inside was a free offer of a Frick nameplate, proudly bearing the slogan "Custom built for (enter name) Snap On"

I filled in the online registration and waited.

After a few weeks the package arrived, but on opening it I was disgusted at the state of the nameplate. Aside from the fact it looked like a cheap piece of doodoo that you would find on ebay, the condition was terrible. It was covered in what I can only describe as heat blisters. There was a form inside with the order on with a space for somebody to sign to show it had been quality checked, this was blank.

Now I am a proud and hard working man and I take great pride in my tools and what i achieve with them. I have been a loyal Snap on customer for 20 years now, but this has really disgusted me to the point I have written a letter of complaint and sent it back to Snap on UK along with the nameplate.

I know lot's have people have different views about Snap on and it's not my intention to drag up age old debate, but this is the first time in 20 years that I think Snap on are taking the PI$$ out of me.

That's my rant over I guess, hasn't made me feel a whole lot better but thought I'd write it up anyways :)

Did you contact the company that made the nameplate? If it went through an outside company, I would have started with them.

If your not happy or it has issues call your dealer and see if get another one made... Maybe a picture? Are you sure it doesn't have a piece of cellophane covering the name plate to protect it during shipment? That would explain the blistered look, air pockets etc..

This was my thought also. I've never seen a piece of metal with "heat blisters". Maybe a picture would help.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
You didn't receive anything free, you paid for it, so it should be right. Don't accept it , as being part of what you paid for make sure your dealer knows that what you bought from them is not acceptable.

PS,

There is nothing free from Snap On, you are paying for it one way or another.

I would say something. I got mine and it looks great. you payed big bucks for that box. now AFAIK the company that makes them is separate from snap on so you will probably have to take it up with them. but still who doesn't want something that signifies that the box belongs to them? I know I sure like that kind of stuff.

Best luck

i would be pissed too but wouldnt let it ruined my day. im sure they will make it right. now if there was something wrong with the tool box (any single scratch) it would be a whole different story.
