The pics of finished floors are amazing and I'm so envious of all of you. But, on the other hand, I'm scared to death that I will attempt to do this to my garage floor and have it turn out like ****. Is there an in depth video available that shows all the steps? I want to take the next step but........

The next step is actually to overcome your fear.
There is a few threads around here that tell you exacly what to do and in what order. If you follow the steps, your floor will come out just as great

Don't be skeerd!! It's like painting a wall, only you look down. :bounce:

I've done it twice, both jobs turned out great. The second time was in a 80X40 shop. Prep is the big thing, and, after reading a couple of other posts in this section, make sure you rinse well.

Unless you are doing some complex pattern, just read the directions the coating manufacturer and follow them. You'll do fine.

And if you don't do well, you will STILL end up with a coated floor, which is win-win no matter in my book.

I think we all started this way. Its not so bad and well worth the effort. Do your research, decide what you want, plan, then go for it.

Having a helper will help you. Pay attention to "pot life" of the product you use. Some have a fairly short pot life - 15 mins or so. Professionals are able to go with that, but as a novice, I would have choked & died. My pot life was an hour, I think, and with a helper, that worked out OK.

Fear not! Besides the project posted here there are dozens of others who don't post. We've worked with over 200 projects just with Garage Journal members, do a search and you'll see that things go well. If there are hiccups on the way, we manage to find solutions that result in satisfied clients.

We're now seeing people who have moved, or built out, and are coming back to do their 2nd or even 3rd projects.

Yes, it's more involved then painting a bedroom wall, but if you pay attention and take your time, you'll end up with a great floor.

ROFL!
I was where you are, 2 weeks ago!

Happy to have the products delivered, but afraid to open the containers, as if it would turn to solid stone before my eyes...

Too bad I'm all finished, now that I know how to do it. :)
I'm getting my photos and story together to post it all on here.
1 indispensible item before starting: Fred's phone number.

I think I would be more worried if you WEREN'T a bit scared. Your fear will lead to caution and attentiveness. I predict your floor will turn out absolutely perfect!

I guess I'm in the minority, I got my materials from StonHard. It was a primer/topcoat system in light gray. I had a floor that was 20 years old, and pretty beat but nothing in the way of cracks or spalling save a very small hairline in one area. The floor was pretty pock marked in places from being beat on with tools and dropped items. I etched the floor, washed up the grease as well as I could and let it dry. Then I mixed and placed the primer. When that was pretty well kicked but still had the slightest tackiness to it, I mixed and rolled on the finish coat. It was at that point that all the imperfections in the floor kinda stood out but I had a beautifully coated, pretty uniform looking floor. That was over 10 years ago, no popping, bubbles or delamination of any kind. Yeah, it's got the scratches and chips from 10 years of abuse but what the heck. One thing is for sure, I was never worried, or afraid of the outcome. There are far more important things in life than to obsess about a few mil of epoxy on a garage floor. I find it a little strange that nearly every account of an epoxy installation mentions this incredible fear and worry about what was going to happen, and prep that is undertaken with the care and ritual of embalming an Egyptian Pharaoh. It's a coat of paint on a floor for Pete's sake. I doubt if any of you were as well informed or worried when it came to getting married as you were about a floor coating.
