Yeah, that is a pretty awesome feature. I wish the pliers wrenches were the same way but you have to keep squeezing those while you turn them. Knipex tools are just badass all around.

I watched one where the German speaking narrator pronounced it kah-nee-pix. Another had an American Knipex salesman pronounce it kah-nip-pex. Still another with a British salemans saying it more like kah-nip-ix, so who knows.

Maybe it's a conspiracy and the Germans are making fun of us for believing they say it that way. I love those Cobra Locking pliers though. I am in the market for some adjustable pliers now (don't own a single one) and almost got some boring old channel-locks. Thanks for posting this. I think I'd want a longer pair, but that 2-inch jaw on 10-inch pliers is really good though.

Now I just need to find the best needle-nose, then I'll be all set.

I took German for a couple of years in high school. They taught us every letter makes a sound in every word. The word "name" is spelled the same in German and means the same thing, but in German it's two syllables. So I've always pronounced it sort of correctly, since I saw it written before I heard anybody say it.

I'm no expert with my 2 years of high school German, but yes W is pronounced the way V sounds in English. And the V is pronounced like F in English. Folkswagen.

Strange word. If you leave a space in it (eich hoernchen), it means "calibration croissant", according to Google Translate.

Do these things sort of act like vise-grip pliers? That video sold me, and I ordered a 10-inch COBRA, so can I throw away my vise-grips now, or do they do something different? From that video, it looks like these are a much better version of my tired old vise-grips.
