That appears to the the same one that Harbor Freight sells, or at least very similar. It will hold up to impact use for the most part, I stripped the threads on one but never broke it.

Subscribed. I have been needing a ball joint press. Just need to know if this is worthwhile. I will probably buy a cheap ball joint adapter kit also

Yeah, it looks just like my harbor freight version.

I have used mine many times with an impact & havent broken it yet. I always re-coat the threads HEAVILY with wheel bearing grease everytime I use it.

I see a lot of Harbor Freight stuff on Ebay (that is not branded as Harbor Freight). Not sure if there is some giant factory in China pumping all these out, to Harbor Freight and a bunch of other sellers.

Yes there is
I go to SEMA every year and there are companies there that will put your brand name on a tool if you are ordering a bunch of them. Otherwise they will sell them to you in smaller quantity blank generic

Yeah it looks like the HF one. I've used mine a bunch with an impact gun, just make sure to oil the threads before use and you should be fine.

Even tho rsanter already nailed it: Not sure? There definitely is. Check out things like pry bar sets at HF and then browse the Northern Tool catalog for their house brand stuff. Even some of the Astro Pnuematic stuff USED to be the same as HF, but I can't say that's the case anymore.

I've also got the HF ball joint press and have used it, mostly on u-joints, A LOT with an impact. I can see the threads are finally starting to be not so happy, but it still works. I've NEVER greased the threads; that's a good idea and I should (but as SWMBO will confirm, I'm just not that smart).

Same set I have, from Princess Auto. I greased my threads, use an impact on it. Pops U joints in seconds.

There are many individual sellers on Amazon and Sears.com reselling Harbor Freight tools. Sometimes under the HF brand names, other times (such as this one) omitting them.

In this case a little work with Google shows that the part number they use is an old part number of a Harbor Freight ball joint kit. From the two copies of the tiny, low-resolution picture, they didn't take a picture of an actual product in hand. So this is almost certainly a tiny opportunistic seller. They list a bunch of items they have seen in stores. If they sell from a listing, they use a 25% coupon to buy at the local store, or just have it shipped directly by HF.

This irks me. When I goes to Sears.com, I expect to sells items sold by Sears. Items that exist at the local store, or can shipped there. And presumably something they have glanced at to see if it suitable for the purpose. It's a little less true for Amazon, but I still expect better than FleaBay level buyer-beware.
